Squiffed!

I’ve been doing some soul searching over the past few days. Mainly because I feel that as the blog dust has settled, my blogging groove has squiffed a little. Now, for those that have absolutely no idea what ‘squiffed’ means; firstly, it’s pronounced SKEW-IFF’D. I think it’s an Aussie term. When I used to live in London, the only time I heard that word was when I was around other Australians. You can correct me if I’m wrong, of course. Secondly, the best way I can describe squiffed…..imagine a car, turning left, changing it’s mind and sharply making a right.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I need to amp it up a little. Change things around. Mix it up.

Everyday, I come across really fantastic blogs that offer advice, words of wisdom. Writing techniques. These bloggers have people thanking them for their insight, for helping them come out of a writing funk. Hey, I’ve been one of those thankers.

So what does little ol’ me have to offer all of you out there? At this point in my writing? Nada. Zilch. Zip. Zippo.

Sure, I’ve got blogging ideas up the wazoo. But does it offer anything? Other than entertaining (I hope) reading? Maybe.

Ok. Just to clarify, I’m not after accolades or sympathy. I am very proud of Poeta Officium – after only 2 months I’ve almost reached 2,000 hits. I’m proud of my dedication to the blog. I’m proud of how far I’ve come with my writing.

But now I think it’s time I gave back.

Watch this space.

  2. I’m a Londoner and I say SKEW-WIFF to describe something that’s not quite straight, like a picture on the wall, I’d say ‘its a bit skew-wiff’ lol 🙂 Curious now as to where it originated from lol

I know exactly how you feel hon, I’ve just recently posted on my blog that I think it lacks direction, and that I’m going to try to be more focused 🙂

    Good luck xx

  3. I got into blogging because a friend suggested I needed to promote myself and my writing. I understand where you’re coming from. I’m still working on it.
Can’t help you with the origins of ‘skiffed’ must be an east coast of Australia term, I’m from the west!

    • Hmmm….I’m from the West too! I come from Perth and now live over east, have been for 5 years and I don’t hear the word very often if at all. Unless it’s coming from my mouth! How very strange….. 🙂
